Carloforte and Sardinia: Italian pioneers in territorial prevention

Carloforte - Casa della Comunità, Via Don Pagani
Carloforte and Sardinia are emerging as Italian pioneers in territorial prevention with the installation of TrAIcorder at the Casa della Comunità in Via Don Pagani.
In recent days, we installed TrAIcorder at the Casa della Comunità in Via Don Pagani, thanks to the donation from the Municipality of Carloforte and the collaboration with ASL Sulcis. This is an important step not only for TrAIcorder, but also for a broader vision of community-based healthcare: healthcare that can move beyond traditional care settings and meet people where they live.
Carloforte is a particularly meaningful setting. Bringing a fast, non-invasive screening technology to an island community means addressing one of the most concrete challenges of territorial medicine: reducing distance, simplifying access and making prevention a real, everyday and nearby opportunity.
A community hub for closer prevention
The Casa della Comunità is an ideal place to test this approach. It is designed to connect services, professionals and citizens, strengthening the role of local communities in protecting health. The arrival of TrAIcorder follows this direction: providing a tool that is easy to integrate, fast to use and capable of supporting population screening initiatives.
The value of the technology, in this case, is not only in the measurement itself. It lies in the possibility of lowering the threshold for accessing prevention. A fast, contactless and non-invasive screening experience can encourage participation, including among people who usually postpone checks, face logistical barriers or perceive prevention as distant from everyday life.
Fast
an experience designed to reduce time and make screening participation easier.
Non-invasive
a contactless mode that makes the check simpler and less demanding.
Accessible
a tool that can be brought close to people and to the places of community life.
A concrete institutional collaboration
The installation was made possible by the donation from the Municipality of Carloforte and the collaboration with ASL Sulcis. It is a concrete example of how technological innovation, local administrations and public healthcare can work together to build new, sustainable and prevention-oriented pathways.
We thank the Municipality of Carloforte, ASL Sulcis and all the professionals involved for their openness, collaboration and trust. Every territorial project may start from a technology, but it truly grows only when it meets people and institutions able to recognise its potential and turn it into a service.
Bringing TrAIcorder to Carloforte means making concrete a direction we have been working on for some time: bringing fast, non-invasive and accessible screening tools closer to people, professionals and local communities.
From one installation to a replicable model
The Carloforte experience should not be seen as an isolated event. It is the first piece of a model that can be replicated in other territories: identifying a community-based facility, providing an easy-to-use screening tool and organising prevention days with the support of healthcare professionals and local institutions.
From this perspective, TrAIcorder can help build a more continuous culture of prevention. It does not replace clinical assessment, but it can help identify needs, increase awareness and encourage a first contact with more structured health pathways. When data is collected and interpreted responsibly, it becomes a tool to guide attention, dialogue and planning.
Next step: screening days
Dedicated screening days for the population will be organised soon: a concrete first step to put innovation at the service of the community and create value directly in the territory.
Carloforte as a signal for territorial healthcare
Territorial prevention requires tools, but it also requires a cultural choice: seeing health not only as a response to illness, but as a constant, accessible presence integrated into community life. Carloforte sends a strong signal in this direction, showing how a geographically specific setting can become an innovation laboratory for the whole country.
For us, this is an important moment because it confirms a path: working so that technology does not remain limited to major centres or specialist events, but becomes an operational tool in the places where it can generate everyday impact. This is how innovation stops being a promise and becomes a service.
